Remember not to eat the leaves!

I love rhubarb, and its very easy to grow. Its just a case of planting it in a sunny spot and providing the soil around it with enough nutrients.  Personally I just add grass cuttings around the base whenever the lawn is cut and this quickly rots down  to provide all the nitrogen that the plant needs to make lovely thick stalks.

Of course it can take a year or so to become established before you can start picking it but after that you can pick as much as you like till midsummer, then I generally leave it alone unless I have a craving for a crumble.
